====== Jeff's Notes from the Embedded Systems Conference in San Jose ======

===== ESC 2009 Report =====

3/31/09

I met:

  Andreas Eieland
  Product Marketing Manager
  AVR Products Center
  +47 72 89 75 34
  aeieland@atmel.com

Andreas mentioned a 3rd party developer program which can help us get samples and anything else we might need. He said to email him about it 1-2 weeks after the conference and he would hook us up with the right people at Atmel.

Andreas advised to use the 'P' suffix parts, ie. 168P instead of the older parts because they will be around longer. Some of the older AVRs are approaching end of life, but Atmel's policy is to always have a pin compatible replacement available, so there is not a huge risk. The 'P' parts are low power versions and have a couple extra registers but should be otherwise identical to the originals.

I emailed Andreas on 4/16 and heard back today (4/22) from the 3rd party dev program people. I'll put the contact info on a sep. page.

==== Other stuff: ====

Atmel just introduced the ATtiny43, which can run on 0.6V. It has a builtin DC-DC converter. Pretty cool.
